Effect of Group Multisensory Stimulation Program on the Cognitive Function and Emotional Control of the Elderly with mild dementia

Abstract
Objective : The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of group multisensory stimulation program on cognitive function and emotional regulation in the elderly with mild dementia.

Methods : This study provided a group multi-sensory stimulation program for the elderly with mild dementia over 65 years old living in specialized nursing facilities for the elderly, and compared and analyzed the subject's cognitive function, depression, and anxiety.

Results : After the group multi-sensory stimulation program, among the subjects' cognitive function, mental power, spatial perception, and exercise performance were significantly improved (p<.01), and emotional regulation was significantly decreased (p<.01). In addition, depression and anxiety showed a significant positive relationship.

Conclusion : The multisensory stimulation program for the elderly with mild dementia showed positive results in improving cognitive function and emotional regulation in the elderly with dementia. The multi-sensory stimulation program will help relieve the symptoms of dementia elderly, and it is thought that further research is needed in the future.
